“Moments of silent understanding”

Dimitris

Here I am, typing.

In front of me, right above my computer screen, a beautiful forest.

Green everywhere, and the distant sound of cars passing.

I am reflecting upon the last months.

A simple idea, a simple desire to pass the gift to more people.

I found healing moments in tango.

I found human moments.

Laughs, hugs, breaths.

Humans hugging humans.

In a society that gives us so many reasons to stay away from each other…

I can’t stop but think:

What a gift tango would be for the life of someone who just wants to stop thinking, who just wants someone to silently understand.

Silent understanding.

There is beauty in it isn’t it?

The moment the person you love looks at you, and without talking you know that (s)he knows how you feel.

The moment your mother understood it was time to put you to sleep, to dress you, to hug you, without you even having to ask for it.

The moment your father lifted you up on his shoulders so you can look at the world from just a bit higher, and dream for a while that you are a giant.

Silent understanding.

There is magic in it.

And tango gives us these moments, in abundance.

Moments of silent understanding.

If you ever felt lonely, disheartened, discouraged, and someone simply held your hand, you experienced one of those moments.

A moment, when someone simply showed you that there is no need to talk, no need to pretend you are someone you are not, and no need to show who you truly are.

There is no need.

“I understand”.

That’s what holding hands tells you.

That’s what an embrace can tell you.

That’s the gift of tango.

What does your hug say?

If tango found you, you received a gift, a gift given to help you understand yourself.

Spread that gift, share it.

When you dance with others, share with them those moments.

Hug, and let your embrace simply say:

“I understand.

You are just like me.

You are looking for happiness just like me.

You are looking for purpose just like me.

You are looking for silent understanding, just like me.

Stop looking!

Hug… listen… the music is already playing.

Time to start…”
