What is it like to be at the Encuentro Tango?
The 1st Tango Argentino Festival of Beira Baixa, in central Portugal, in a beautiful landscape between Lisbon and Madrid.
The Festival brings together world-class reference artists and teachers and promotes the cultural exchange of experiences among people from around the world (Argentina, Portugal, Spain, France and Italy).
We will enjoy and share 14 hours of classes and workshops, 3 milongas and 4 exhibitions, 3 Djs and Live orchestra “La Ideal”.
Bringing the best tango to the interior of the country to transmit the true spirit of what the tango essentially represents: An encounter.

Performers at the Encuentro Tango:
Agostina Tarchini and Sebastian Acosta
Agostina, world champion of Tango Escenario 2017, is a choreographer and professional dancer. She was born in Santiago del Estero, Argentina, and she took her first steps as a member of the Latin American Ballet Folklorico. She became a teacher of Argentine and Latin American folk dances in 2007, and participated at the World Champion Tango Stage. (Buenos Aires, Argentina 2017).
Sebastian Acosta is a choreographer and professional dancer. He moved to Buenos Aires at the age of 19 to pursue dance studies. He danced at the best tango houses in Buenos Aires, working with Argentine Tango companies with which he toured Europe and Asia. He worked with the prestigious contemporary choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and as part of the Mora Godoy company he toured Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Israel, China being the first dancer.
Tango classes at the Encuentro Tango:
The Encuentro Tango festival is a great opportunity for you to meet and have classes with your favourite tangueros and tangueras. Agostina Tarchini and Sebastian Acosta, Veronica Rue and Pablo Martinez, Florencia Gil Bilbao and Axel Winter, Victoria Cruz and German Salvatierra will all help you increase your understanding and skills. Ed Louis
Edgardo Navarro (dj Ed Louis), from Argentina, has a solid background and experience as a DJ, where he worked at the most well-known milongas in Buenos Aires since 2000. Today he lives and works in France, developing the project “Tango tal vez” . And he turns musicalizing milongas and festivals in Europe.

Olga la Cachila
Olga is a passionate milonguera and Tango DJ. She organizes and musicalizes “La Cachila” milonga, that takes place every Thursday in La Casa del Tango in Alicante (Spain). Moreover, regularly she organizes special workshops and festivalitos with renowned tango dancers. As DJ she has musicalized several events, milongas and festivalitos around Spain, Italy, UK and Georgia. She opts for tradicional tango and especially for rhythmical and emotional orchestras. She tries to improve herseft and loves achieving a great atmosphere in the dance floor where all the milongueros enjoy Tango passionately.

Bruno Sousa
Bruno started DJing in his home town of Lisbon, in 2013, at local milongas and events, and later at international tango marathons.
His main focus is to create a positive vibe, keeping the energy level up, and dancers on the dancefloor.
He enjoys playing contrasting tandas; fast/slow, romantic/energetic, taking dancers on a roller coaster ride of emotions during his sets.

Florencia Gil Bilbao
Dancer, artist, teacher of Tango and Contact improvisation. Natural from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a multidisciplinary artist who has dedicated more than two decades to research in the field of dance and movement. Her passion for tango began in 2007. In 2010 she was already completely dedicated to the study of tango and teaching, she trained with a wide variety of recognized teachers, in addition to the UNA. In 2012 she made her debute at “Corrientes (Bs.As.), in “36 billares”, and in “radio2x4”. In 2013 she obtained her first recognition as sub champion of the tango (world sub-region north) and in 2014 she obtained the third place in the same Championship. She moved to Portugal in 2015 where she continues to train as a dancer and with the transmission of tango. In 2019 she shared her dreams and ambitions with the dancer and teacher Axel Winter, with whom she decided to undertake the great challenge of bringing the best tango to the interior of the country to transmit the true spirit of what the tango essentially represents: “the meeting”.

Axel Winter
Born in Esquel Chubut in Argentina, a dancer, choreographer and teacher. He had his beginnings in tango in 1997, and on 2004 he decided to settle in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Since then he studied in several places in the Argentine capital and with different teachers. In 2010, he received his degree (with honors) in Folklore dance and tango. He was jury in the disciplines of tango and folklore nationwide, and participated in important tours in South America and Europe. In an effort to share knowledge and experiences, he met with Florencia, to develop an event where tango and its multiple interpretations generate a genuine encounter in the interior of Portugal.

This one seems like a nice festival. Thanks for sharing it! What is the best way to go to Castelo Branco from France (Paris)? We are thinking to combine it with a road trip, so we would love to know if there are places closeby and on the way to visit. Also, we saw Piscina Praia on trip advisor, do you recommend it?
