What is it like to be at the Caras de Tango festival?

Caras de Tango comes from the desire to bring together the European and the North America tango communities to discover the many faces of tango. It is the first ever “travelling” tango event: every year the location switches between Europe and North America.

Come and be part of this new experience as we celebrate the dance, music, culture, food and of course the people!

Space dimensions: 300 square meters (!)

Price: Starting at 75€ All Milongas Pass, till 182€ All milongas + 6 workshops

Max number of participants: 450

Gender balance considerations: Registrations are open to single and couple. However single registrant could be put in a waitlist in order to guarantee a good role-balance event

Sabrina & Ruben Veliz

Los Veliz are a recognized couple worldwide as true masters of tango for their experience and unparalleled style.

For 13 years, Sabrina and Ruben have participated in the most prestigious tango festivals around the world as teachers and performers. During 2008, they toured China with their show Radio Latina, covering six cities including Shanghai. The same year they toured Japan with the Momoco Aida orchestra and debuted their show “Abrazame” at the Menton Tango Festival in France.

Carina Lucca & Leo Mosqueda

Carina and Leonardo have been dancing and teaching tango and folklore professionally for 20 years. They have an extensive background in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance.

As previous members of some of the most important Argentine companies, they have shared the stage with renowned musicians such as Mariano Mores, Rodolfo Mederos and his Orquesta Tipica, Raul Carnota, Franco Luciani and Facundo Guevara, among others.

Giselle Gatica-Lujàn & Roque Castellano

Giselle and Roque are a young and talented couple of dancers, with an intense artistic trajectory. Both of Argentinian origin, they took their first steps in dance at a very early age, completing their training and beginning their professional activity in Buenos Aires.

They developed a personal style that preserves the typical forms of the milongas tango while, at the same time, adds elements of the new tango. Their style is pure elegance, dynamic and slow-paced. It reflects a heartfelt hug that translates the movement into the attentiveness of their feet.

Selva Mastroti & Marcelo Ramer

Selva and Marcelo started their artistic training with Argentine folk dance and classical dance. They discovered Argentine Tango during adolescence in Buenos Aires and learned with many masters who have taught them, above all, the love and respect for this dance.

Being a couple for 14 years, they have worked for companies and festivals and have never stopped studying to perfect their style. Selva and Marcelo have been living in Turin since 2012 where they founded the renowned school of Argentine tango “Proyecto Gricel ASD”.

Javier Cura

Javier Cura has dedicated himself to research in anthropological and sociological areas to develop projects in social theatre in Italy, Morocco and Germany. He has taught physical theatre, contactango, and contact improv internationally including Phantastango Tango Festival (Germany), ZIP Contact Impro Festival (Italy), Alchemie Tango Festival (Prague), and at the West Coast Contact Impro Festival in San Francisco (USA). His last piece that merges tango and contact in a physical-theatre context was presented in Prague’s Dance Theatre “Farma Festival”.

Originally coming from the La Boca neighborhood, Marcelo Rojas is one of the best dj’s in the world of tango. Nominated world’s best tango dj in 2018, he is a reference for dj’s worldwide. Marcelo has performed in Buenos Aires Milongas as well as other major milongas all over the world. He is also known for his work at “2 x 4 Radio” – the official tango radio of Buenos Aires and for organizing the legendary milonga “Confitería Ideal”. His musical taste and sensibility manage to transport his audience directly to Buenos Aires.

Punto y Branca

Tango-DJ “Punto y Branca” (alias Jorge Vacca) is one of the most popular and beloved tango DJs in the world. He started his career at the best milongas in Buenos Aires and have been playing tango music for more than ten years. Now he lives in Milan and DJs at regular milongas around Italy, as well as festivals and marathons all over the world. He has an amazing ability to feel the mood of the people on the dance floor and to spice up the atmosphere to extremely high level.s After a 20-years career as professional tango dj, in March 2019 he won the price as world’s best tango dj.

Jun Yi

A gentle and sensitive soul, Jun actively listens to the dance floor and she creates such a music space that speaks to dancers’ emotions absorbed in a warm embrace, elegant steps, and playful movement. She aspires to creating an engaging conversation with the dancers through her tunes where dancers can ease into their personal truth of tango and have their emotions safely unfold and expressed through the dance. Known for her impeccable delicacy of storytelling, Jun’s music is instrumental to creating some of the most blissful, energized and passionate milongas for the dancers that have heard her. She has shared her music selections at well-renowned marathons throughout the United States and Canada, like San Diego Tango New Year Festival, Atlanta Tango Marathon I & II, Buscandote Houston Tango Marathon, Las Mujeras Tango Marathon, Abrazo Tango Marathon, to just name a few, as well as Milongas in China, Italy and Argentina. Currently residing in California, her journey as a tango dancer, DJ, and community-builder continues to grow and expand through her persistent study of the tango music and her consistent tango travels to Europe, Argentina and Asia.

Bandonegro Tango Orquesta

Bandonegro Tango Orquesta is a world class Tango orchestra. Their unique style and passion have made these four young Polish musicians win the hearts of listeners around the world. They are widely considered the best European Tango band of the younger generation and rising stars of tango music.

These young and talented musicians have already performed many times during the leading international tango festivals in Poland, Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. They collaborated with tango stars: Nelson Pino, Roberto Siri, Nito & Elba Garcia, Clarissa Aragone & Jonathan Saavedra, Los Totis, Juan Martin Carrara & Stefania Collina and Maria Ines Bogado & Roberto Zuccarino.

Due to their skills, talent and authentic passion for tango, in January and February 2019 the band took a concert tour in Buenos Aires performing in iconic clubs like Salon Canning, La Viruta or Bilongon and during the prestigious Argentina Tango Salon festival.
