There is beauty in letting go, surrendering, having faith.

We tend to carry too much on us.

We tend to have too many expectations.

Till the time we can’t take it anymore, till the time we say: no more, I can’t do something about it, I am letting it go.

And at that moment, that moment where we let go, calmness manages somehow to get back in.

Calmness finds space, when you let go.

Joy finds space too.

What does this have to do with Tango?

Tango is quite similar.

We tend to have too many expectations.

And then sometimes we go to a milonga, and our expectations are not fulfilled.

We didn’t dance so much, we didn’t dance so good, we didn’t dance with that dancer, we didn’t dance perfectly, we did this and that mistake.

Meanwhile, we lost Tango.

Tango is about letting go.

You can’t hold on something and still live in the moment.

It is just the nature of our minds.

We try to hold on a feeling, and the feeling slips away.

We try to hold on a thought, and other thoughts come.

We try to hold on to love, and love feels trapped.

Till the moment we decide to let go, to trust, to close our eyes and say:

I have faith, show me.

I have faith, surprise me.

I have faith, let me feel.

And when that happens -this beautiful moment of surrendering to what IS, and not to what we WANT-, tango finds space to get in.

What about you, do you feel you have too many expectations in Tango?

If yes, I have a little exercise for you, if you want.

Take a deep breath. Fill your chest with it, fill your belly. And now relax, let the air get out, on its own. 

When the last bit of breath is out, simply think: GONE.

That breath is gone.

It ended.

You let it go.

Start noticing your breath now, breathing normally.

Every time a breath finishes think: GONE.

Another breath is out, fulfilled, done.

That’s how you can train letting go every single day, every time you wait for your computer to load, every time you wait in a line, and yes:

Everytime you are in a milonga, on your seat, watching the bodies move to the rhythm of Tango, or everytime a tanda is over.

GONE, let it go.
