20+ ways tangueros avoid sweating while dancing

I used to find myself sweating often while dancing tango, and this always made me feel uncomfortable. I knew my partners didn’t enjoy it. I knew I wasn’t enjoying.

There is a huge gap when it comes to how much you and your partner enjoy dancing between:

a) Feeling and being sweaty, seeing the sweat drops sliding down your face, knowing that your back is looking all sweaty, feeling that your partner trys to have as few physical contact as possible barely touching your back, and

b) Starting a tanda and feeling fresh, clean, smelling beautifully, without sweat, in a beautiful embrace, flowing through space.

I saw this difference and felt it many times. In fact, one of my worst memories in tango was exactly that: a tanguera pushing me away, and finding an excuse to leave. Back then, I thought she was rude. Now, I know it was my fault. All this sweat and smell could have been avoided.

Since then, many things changed. I tried different products to solve sweating, and below you can find some of them that seem to have a very positive result. If you decide to buy any of those products, without any additional cost for you, you will be supporting us to cover the expenses of running this website.

Self cooling towels??? Yes, they exist.

When I first found out that there are towels that are self-cooling I couldn’t believe it. These are towels that become cooler than the environment! Unbelievable? Simply check them below.

I also included some other options for anyone that wants additional results: my favourite Geoffrey Beene handkerchiefs and No Shower Wipes (yes, you can have the same results as a shower and remove sweat and bad smells, simply using this wipes!!!)

Underarm sweat bands for men

If you dislike seeing a big sweat mark under your armpit, this will be a brilliant solution for you. Simply buy a few underarm sweat pads and see it for yourself.

But this is not the only solution. The Ayunjia anti-sweat sticker works miracles as well. And if you are like me and need something even stronger, the SweatBlock Antiperspirant is at the top of the game right now.

Finally, for a quick fix when it comes to removal of sweat and odor, I like having with me 3-4 Antiperspirant Wipes.

These are my power guns when it comes to not letting sweat go to my partner, and not allowing for it to smell after a couple of hours dancing at a festival.

Portable air blower

If you ever experienced how beautiful it feels to dance with a partner that has a fresh feeling on her skin, then you will see why a portable air blower is a simple solution, for huge results.

My favourite is the SZEE Hand free personal fan. Yes, it does look dorkey. And yes I couldn’t give a damn about it. It cools down my face in 3-5 minutes, to make sure that my next tanda is going to be like my first one.

Of course, there are other solutions, most of them not much different than the rest: some you can attach to the table, some can easily fit in your pocket, and some simply look elegant.

In my experience, having one of those, always brings a bit of laugh, and a lot of interest. But most importantly, it shows to others that you care about fighting sweat and odor.

Anti-sweat and anti-odor t-shirts

Some people say that using a t-shirt is not as elegant as using a shirt. I say: would you prefer to dance with someone with a sweaty shirt or a fresh t-shirt? And at the end of the day, you can always have the t-shirt under the shirt, making sure that you keep feeling fresh.

Anti-sweat shirts

Well, if a t-shirt is not your cup of tea, there are three options that I really like; all of them elegant, and fresh.

Anti-sweat underwear for men

I am sure you have been in a milonga seeing a leader dancing, and then noticing a big, disgusting mark down there… I found out it doesn’t have to be that way, and you can avoid this horrible sensation. The first option is by an anti-sweat underwear. I have a slight preference towards Ejis’ boxers when it comes to comfort, but this might depend on body type.

Man’s body powder (for the crotch area which is sensitive for deodorant)

In combination with the boxers above, I found in Chassis a solution I was looking for. I love also Anthony’s product, but Chassis leaves an additional feeling of a cooling sensation and fresh scent that you might enjoy.

Anti-sweat headbands

I know this is NOT for everybody. It doesn’t look good (for most guys). But it feels good (to most followers). The first option, is using proprietary technology that helps it cool down when wet. If you are sweating a lot from the head, I would recommend trying it a couple of times. I enjoy dancing in close embrace, and this solution has helped countless leaders make the close embrace an enjoyable experience.

Anti-sweat face cream

That was a product I was reluctant to use. I am not much of a “cream” kind of guy. But now, I can say with confidence that this is one more tool that can help you if you sweat mostly from the top down.

Anti-sweat hand cream

There aren’t many people out there that enjoy receiving a sweaty handshake. I am sure you know the feeling. But have you ever thought what effect does this have to the experience of a follower dancing with you? There are many options out there, but I recommend the one below when it comes to dancing.

Antiperspirant Deodorants Specially Formulated For Excessive Sweating or Hyperhidrosis

These are two solutions that I recommend only to the men who feel they sweat excessively. They are strong and effective, but I wouldn’t recommend using them if you are not one of the…. sweaty, sweaty guys.

Foot and shoe deodorant

What most people don’t realize, is that a big ammount of sweat comes from the feet, and even the shoes themselves. Don’t believe me? Go smell your shoes. The 4 solutions below can help you eliminate those smells, and make sure that when you do an enrosque you are not spreading your smell everywhere 🙂

Bath to eliminate sweat odor

A lot of times the time of shower gel you are using can effect your smell significantly. There are many solutions out there, but I recommend this one. Of course it depends on your skin and natutal scent, but you can only know if you give it a try.

What does a belt have to do with smell?????

Fair question, let me explain: I have noticed that when I feel uncomfortable, I sweat more. I also have noticed that a lot of times my belt is either too tight or too relaxed. And I also found out, that what feels comfortable at the beginning of the night when it comes to my belt, is not the same as at the end. That’s why I love those belts, that I was lucky to be introduced to almost 10 years ago. With a simple click, you can adjust the length, and make it fit exactly your needs. It is a subtle change, but it makes a huge difference. When I sit, I prefer to have a more relaxed feeling around my waste, so I adjust the belt. When I stand to dance, I make sure it is a bit more tight. Try it:

Shoe drier

As I mentioned above, smell coming from the shoes can affect the experience that a follower has when dancing with you. I found out that I can avoid smells by simply drying my shoes faster. KOODER is providing some great, cheap, and easy to carry solutions.

Hand Sweatbands

Not so elegant, and not for everyone. But they work.

Form and posture correcting shirt

This is a little bit out there, but stay with me. I have found out that keeping a straight elegant posture, takes effort from my back muscles. I wondered if I could take some effort away, and still look elegant. The following shirt and its technology was a brilliant invention I had the pleasure to discover, in order to help with both posture and sweat.

Pheromons

There has been plenty of discussion recently about the use of pheromons to attract women. Simply google it and you will find plenty of it. But there is another benefit that a lot of people don’t discuss. When a person is attracted to you because of your smell, your smeel automatically becomes more pleasant. And this is where pheromones can work miracles. In tango we come into close proximity with each other, so even a drop of pheromones could make your smell more pleasant for the follower

Bath relaxation for muscles

Finally, keep in mind that smell comes from the inside out. If you google it, you will find plenty of information on how detoxification can reduce smelly sweat. Being able to help your body relax and release tension can help you smell better. I would recommend the following two bath options.
